Camp Dreams

A few weekend ago I met up with one of my friends for dinner. Nearly the first thing she said to me was, “Can we go camping this summer?” The truth is there is nothing I would like more. I’ve been dreaming of nothing but summer and camping and friends and fires. Here’s some handmade camping themed goodies to get you dreaming as well.

Metro Detroit Etsy’s Holiday Boot Camp

Since Mary and I will be up north this weekend I won’t get to attend this event myself, but I wanted to spread the word on Metro Detroit Etsy’s Holiday Boot Camp happening at TechShop Detroit this Sunday, November 11 from noon-6 p.m.

The whole event focuses as a helpful guide on how best to sell what you make on Etsy. You can view the event here and I’ve listed the flier below. If you’re selling online and live in the Detroit-area, check it out!

Obsession: Dead Animal Stuff

When we were in San Francisco, we visited the awesome shop, Paxton Gate. It stocked every delightful item you could imagine, from monocles to animal skulls. Ever since, I’ve obsessed over building a creepy collection of taxidermy and skulls. Trevor and I both bought some awesome stuffed birds at an antique shop last weekend. Here are a few more treasures I’d like to add to my collection.

Handmade Weddings

I’m from Michigan and I’ve always dreamed of getting married in the northern Michigan countryside. I love the understated charm of a rustic DIY wedding. It’s easy to get over your head with craft projects for your special day and sometimes it’s best to hand over some of the work to the experts. Here’s a roundup of some of my favorite handmade wedding products from Etsy sellers.

printable wine label
What could be easier than using these personalized wine labels from Creative Crabbe as table numbers?

ampersand cake topper
I’m a sucker for an ampersand and anything with wood grain. This mahogany cake topper from better off wed is such a refreshing deviation from the norm. They also have a “mr & mrs” which I love.

mason jar wedding favors
No rustic wedding is complete without mason jars. These mason jar tumblers from Poppy and Pearl co. would be charming glasses for mint juleps as well as fun favors for guests.

just married pennant

This pennant banner from You’re That Girl Designs would add some whimsey to your photos and double as a decoration above the dessert table.

Obsession: Giant Glasses

Yesterday, I found myself driving a sales person at an eye wear store insane with my distaste for every frame they had. I would try on pair after pair and say they were too small and too square. I went into a few places and there are truly no frames that appeal to me. I finally realized I would need to find a vintage pair and get new lenses with my prescription. Here are a few of my favorites on Etsy right now.
